Governor Udom Emmanuel has charged Akwa Ibomites to uphold the virtues of integrity and honesty in all their dealings as these are cardinal to progress and success in life. He gave the indication while making a presentation to beneficiaries of the Dakkada Business Summit through his Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Hon. Akan Okon. The Commissioner described his principal as a model of integrity and sincerity for keeping his promise to the beneficiaries.
The stories of Kingsley Isong, a commercial tricycle rider, Blessing Emah, inventor of Ekpang Nkukwo flour, and Samuel Asuquo, a local telecom business operator, stand out as revered epitomes of integrity, creative excellence and entrepreneurship and were duly recognized by Dakkada. Irrespective of their background, they chose the path of hard work and integrity.
Speaking, Mr Akan Okon noted that, “Governor Udom Emmanuel believes that citizens of Akwa Ibom shouldn’t beg, he believes we have the ability to do exceptional things. At the last Dakkada Business Forum, exceptional young persons with viable business ideas were identified and government promised to support them to expand their businesses with 1million each and I’m happy that today they’ve been given the money to expand their businesses.”
If these youths thought their act of hard work and integrity would go unnoticed, they were wrong as these inherent virtues have not only pushed them to limelight, but has been handsomely rewarded through the benevolence of Governor Udom Emmanuel as Mr. Isong, Miss Emah and Mr. Asuquo received the sums of N400,000, N1million and N1million respectively.
In their emotionally overwhelmed responses, the beneficiaries thanked the Governor and promised to put the money into good and productive use.
